I believe that every American citizen should have the opportunity to receive a quality education that teaches the fundamental skills needed to compete in today's economy.
Dependence on foreign sources of energy threatens our national security and puts our economic prosperity at risk, especially when we depend on countries who openly express their hatred for America. I support measures that will make America energy independent.
I do not support "universal health care." All Americans should be able to choose their own health care providers and get health care insurance that is affordable, accessible and transferable. Medical insurance coverage options also must be flexible enough to meet the needs of each individual.
We are a nation of immigrants. However, illegal immigration is both an economic and a national security issue, and securing our borders must be our top priority.
I believe the federal government should be in the business of encouraging job growth. Instead of complaining about the jobs lost to China, Mexico, and other countries, we need our federal government to allow U.S. companies the means to trade on equal footing with other countries.
I will support all measures to maintain the Medicare benefits enjoyed by current recipients. As with Social Security, we must work hard as a Congress to make sure that the promises made in the past will be kept.
I support a larger, more flexible and modern combat force that can not only fight the war on terrorism in the United States, but can also defend our interests abroad.
I believe strong families are the core of our nation and our society. The breakdown of traditional family values has led to many of the problems we face today.
The Social Security system is heading toward a financial crisis, and no one in the U.S. government denies it. Action needs to be taken to guarantee that the system will remain viable without bankrupting our children and grandchildren.
I support lower taxes and less spending by the federal government. Lower taxes encourage economic growth. I believe families know best where and how to spend their income. I support efforts to simplify the tax laws so that they are fairer and do not hamper economic growth.
I believe that abortion is wrong and contrary to God's will, because life begins at conception. I will not support any legislation where your tax dollars are spent to further this wrong.
As a veteran myself, I uniquely understand the issues faced by our veterans. Men and women that sacrifice their freedom and sometimes their health deserve the full measure of our support. I support quality, reliable and available medical care for these brave men and women.
