Job Creation

I believe the federal government should be in the business of encouraging job growth. Instead of complaining about the jobs lost to China, Mexico, and other countries, we need our federal government to allow U.S. companies the means to trade on equal footing with other countries.

The government must create an environment that encourages businesses to generate new jobs in economically depressed areas like ours. The Trade Adjustment Act (TAA), which assists displaced workers with federal benefits, was a good start. But providing federal assistance without encouraging job growth is pointless. For example, many people in our district find it necessary to travel 100 miles or more per day to find significant and suitable employment.

Bottom-line - the most important ways in which the federal government can encourage job growth are to provide a level playing field for U.S. companies to trade internationally, to restrain its spending habits, and to reduce oppressive taxes on businesses of all sizes.
