Energy

Dependence on foreign sources of energy threatens our national security and puts our economic prosperity at risk, especially when we depend on countries who openly express their hatred for America. I support measures that will make America energy independent. For example, I support legislation to open up the Alaska National Wildlife Reserve (ANWR) in order to replace oil currently provided by unstable and even hostile Islamic countries.

I support efforts to promote renewable and alternative energy sources for America. I would like our nation to take another serious look at nuclear power. Nuclear plants have been working very well to provide power from coast to coast, including two major nuclear facilities right here in North Carolina.

Within environmental limitations, I would support additional research and tax incentives to companies in order to bring other effective, proven "alternative fuels" to the U.S. market.
