Education

I believe that every American citizen should have the opportunity to receive a quality education that teaches the fundamental skills needed to compete in today's economy. However, I believe that the federal role in education is often too intrusive and bureaucratic, and I strongly support North Carolina's traditional right to manage its educational system without restrictive federal regulation.

I believe that parents must be allowed to determine which educational option is best for their children, whether it be a public school, a private school, a charter school or a home school. I will not support any attempt by the federal government to substitute some form of government intervention for that vital role.
