“We are blessed indeed to have the opportunity to choose a highly qualified candidate like Lance Sigmon as our next U.S. Congressman...Lance is a fine man with great integrity and character. He is a Christian who believes wholeheartedly in family values…Lance feels called to serve. He has no grand political ambitions, but simply wants to make a significant impact representing North Carolina. - Franklin and Susan Reinhardt, Newton
The North Carolina Republican Primary is Tuesday, May 6. North Carolina’s 10th Congressional District deserves better representation than it has had under Congressman McHenry. Lance Sigmon calls for investigation into McHenry’s Green Zone video in front of the Federal Court House, Charlotte, NC

As a veteran of our Armed Forces I am appalled at the recent conduct of my opponent, Representative Patrick McHenry, during his visit to Iraq in March.

I have invited you here today to formally call for an investigation of Mr. McHenry regarding his recent conduct during and after this trip.

The needs and concerns of the people of the 10th District will be my first priority.
To that aim, I pledge that:

  • I will have an office in each county. I will remain accessible to the voters by phone, e-mail, and in person and will address your issues and concerns quickly and efficiently.
  • I will work with each municipality, aggressively seeking out opportunities to bring new businesses here, and work directly with local municipals to secure grants and loans.
  • I support enforcement of current immigration laws and legislation which will stop illegal immigration while regulating legal immigration to provide seasonal workers where needed. I will not support any type of amnesty.
  • I will fight to reduce your taxes and reduce the size of the federal government, including implementation of a simplified tax code to reduce or eliminate the need for the IRS.
  • I will not use "earmarks" or "pork barrel" funding to further "pet projects", and will discourage this practice in Congress.
  • I will work to ensure the Hickory Veteran's clinic is completed and operating. I will sponsor funding to bring a mobile veteran's clinic to this District, and expand veteran's constituent services.
  • I will not support any form of "universal health care." I will support measures that will lower costs or improve delivery of health care.
  • I will support development of new domestic sources of oil and other reasonable alternative fuels to reduce our dependency on foreign oil.
  • I will fight to protect the Catawba River basin by calling for an immediate halt to water transfers.
  • Patrick McHenry Bashes Masonic Order and Shriners

In a shocking display of immaturity, Patrick McHenry made the following statements:
“The Masons and Shriners are nothing but a cult” - Patrick McHenry, Republican Primary debate, Cleveland County 2004

The mission of the Masonic Order is to care for distressed brothers and help widows and orphans. We are all familiar with the excellent work the Shriners do, helping crippled children and their families. Lance Sigmon is outraged by his opponent’s comments. If elected to office, Lance Sigmon will serve all persons in the 10th District with honor and respect.
